What is HARP?

HARP is a self-hosted service that gives teams better visibility and control over the APIs they rely on. It requires minimal configuration and almost no code changes, helping you cut down costs of developments.

Where it all started...

We build and operate enterprise web applications for a wide range of clients. But once real-world users and data come into play, operations can be tricky.
Most production incidents fall into two categories: human errors and failures in external services. While the first is difficult to prevent with technology, we repeatedly solved the second with code. Eventually, we decided to stop patching the problem, and solve it properly, once and for all.

What can it do for you?

HARP makes your API traffic faster, safer, and more resilient with built-in features like smart retries, timeouts, and circuit breakers, ensuring your services stay responsive even when external APIs don’t. On top of that, it gives you deep observability and fine-grained control over every outgoing call. Catch issues early, reduce downtime, and gain the clarity you need to confidently run your services in production.

Built on the shoulders of giants...

HARP Enterprise is built on a custom version of Envoy Proxy, an industry-proven, high-performance engine trusted by companies like Google and Lyft. It delivers the speed, security, and reliability your API calls demand, enhanced by the powerful observability features only HARP provides.

A platform for API consumers

Visibility. Resilience. Speed.

Meet your Audit Log

HARP’s Audit Log gives you full visibility into every API transaction, timestamped and securely stored for future inspection. Whether you're resolving incidents, preparing for a compliance audit, or conducting forensic analysis, you’ll always have a reliable, tamper-proof source of truth. No blind spots, no guesswork, just complete clarity when it matters most.

From Data to Insight

HARP’s dashboard turns raw API traffic into clear, actionable insights. It gives you a visual, high-level view of your transactions over time, grouped by endpoints, time periods, or services. You can quickly spot trends, detect anomalies, and understand your system’s behavior. It’s like an x-ray for your API activity, designed to help you make smarter decisions, faster.

Stop outages before they spread

When one of your third-party services starts failing, HARP steps in to protect your system. Its circuit breaker feature automatically prevents repeated failures from dragging everything down, keeping your app fast, stable, and your users unaware that anything ever went wrong. It’s invisible protection that helps you deliver a smoother, more reliable experience.

Faster responses, less traffic

HARP’s built-in cache reduces traffic by storing repeated API responses right next to your services.
Your apps get faster responses, use less bandwidth, and put less stress on external APIs.
No need to build complex caching logic yourself, HARP takes care of it for you.

A hub for all your APIs

Turn your API calls into insights

HARP is a thin layer between your apps and the APIs they rely on, boosting reliability, speed, and security with zero hassle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it a scalable solution?

Yes, absolutely! HARP is built as a lightweight service that can be scaled horizontally and/or vertically. We work with our enterprise customers to fine tune their hosting environment to suit their API traffic.

Is HARP open-source ?

The Community Edition is Open-Source. The Professional and Enterprise editions are based on the open-source core, but comes with enhanced security and scalability related features, along with enterprise-grade support.

How can I know HARP is secure and reliable?

While the open-source Community Edition is based on a fully custom proxy, the Professional and Enterprise editions are leveraging Envoy Proxy as its network traffic management proxy, a very stable and externally audited proxy trusted by big technical companies like Google, Lyft, Uber and much more. All critical traffic will go through the battle-tested proxy.

Does HARP require a complex integration?

HARP integrates well with both cloud and on premise environments. If you're using Kubernetes, a straightforward Helm chart is there to help you deploy the services, and regular packaged installs are available for bare-metal linux servers. Additionally, we're there to help all our enterprise customers adapt the system to their infrastructure environement.
